
82 [Image] Extreme cakes and marble-poured cakes are all the rage. Combine the best of both by creating a pour cake of the David or another famous marble sculpture. The finished cake must be at least 1 foot high; after you have photographed it, cut it up and share the sweetness of art with someone. (41 points)
This was a very fun learning experience for me. I had just recently started trying to bake cakes, so that process was still relatively new. Not that it kept me from messing up my first attempt!
My goal for colors was a sort of weather worn effect from being outside many years. The result was nothing like that of course. Overall I believe there was a bit too much food coloring added to the frosting. That left the colors a bit muddy and indistinct.
I went with the suggested David sculpture by Michelangelo, because obviously. Everything is held together by an internal structure built with chopsticks and laser cut plywood. Surprisingly there were few issues with this aspect of my build. Part of one leg fell off toward the end, but I “glued” it back on with more frosting. Here is a shot of that which shows some of my framework.
